Welcome to the Apprenticeship page for the UK Financial & Legal Sectors

We have built different pathways and frameworks specifically for the financial and legal sectors offering you breadth to select the ones most appropriate for your business and country. Frameworks are used by colleges, employers and training providers to ensure that apprenticeship programmes are delivered consistently and to national standards. The framework includes all qualifications and their credit value. It also gives guidance regarding entry requirements, completion time and careers paths.

The apprenticeship frameworks span various disciplines, such as accountancy, banking, insurance, investments, mortgage advice, bookkeeping, legal advice and legal services; each provides your staff with the following elements:

  • Knowledge, generally a professional qualification
  • Competence qualification and skills in literacy and numeracy
  • Module on employer rights and responsibilities (ERR)
  • Module on Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) (England only)

Funding options for you

The size of the contribution varies depending on your sector and the age of the candidate. For full details of the government funding visit the Apprenticeship Service.

New equivalents to the LLB and LPC in the pipeline

By 2014, we’re aiming to have started developing Higher Level Apprenticeships at levels 6 and 7. They will be the direct equivalents of the current LLB and LPC.

It will mean students will be able to earn their qualifications whilst in employment, gaining work experience, without going to university and with the cost of their training being paid (at least in part) by the Government.

As yet, we are not 100% sure what form a Level 7 Higher Legal Service Apprenticeship would take, but it would certainly be a qualification equivalent in difficulty to the LPC. Interested? Email Chris Rushworth to find out more.

Apprenticeship Certification

From Wednesday 6 June 2012, we have outsourced our apprenticeship certification to Skills for Justice.
Therefore, from this date all apprenticeship claims via Apprenticeship Certificates England (ACE), MA Online in Scotland, Apprenticeship Certification Wales (ACW) will be administered by Skills for Justice.
Where you have already registered with us as a training provider, you will not experience any change in the service.
This decision is in light of a review of efficiency savings for this service and our wider work including apprenticeship framework development will continue as normal.

If you have any queries in this regard, please contact the Skills for Justice certification team on 0114 261 5800 or email certification@sfjuk.com.
